“Monsters vs. Aliens” reinvents the classic ‘50s monster movie into an irreverent modern day action comedy.
Description:When California girl Susan Murphy is clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk and quickly grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall, she is captured and jailed in the government’s secret Area 52. There, Susan (now called Ginormica) finds herself surrounded by other incarcerated monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their jail time is cut short, however, when Major Monger (on a desperate President’s orders) springs the group to combat an unstoppable alien robot rampaging the country. Victorious, the monsters are soon confronted by the robot’s mother ship, under the command of the evil Gallaxhar, who demands the return of his Quantonium (whatever that is) or he’ll destroy the planet. So, it’s up to the monsters to overcome their misfit status and save the world from imminent destruction.
